More about Ariadne
Ariadne was set up by a number of European donors in 2009 to help funders communicate with each other and share information in a private setting, free from grant seeking. It is a participatory network and currently has more than 100 members in a number of European countries, all of whom are donors.
Ariadne's activities are planned and guided by its members. It also has a number of affiliates who belong to institutions aimed at supporting philanthropy or who are members of related donor networks. No pitching for funds or grant-seeking takes place within Ariadne. Its members focus on a broad range of human rights issues, or on using a human rights lens to look at social justice issues. This includes work in the fields of:
- Children's Rights
- Asylum and Detention
- Women’s Rights
- LGBT Rights
- Civil and Political Rights
- Economic and Social Rights
- Environmental justice
- Migration and Integration
- Anti-torture Work
- Disability Rights
- Minority Rights, including Roma Rights
- Peace and Security
- Transitional Justice
- Freedom of Expression
- Human Trafficking
- Due Process and Criminal Justice
Ariadne focuses on global human rights but recognises that as a European Network it has a special role to play in supporting the ability of civil society to hold European institutions to account.
Ariadne thanks the following Trusts and Foundations for their support:
